• Larz Sean Christopher McIntosh made an initial appearance on a pre-trial release violation charge. The public defender’s office will continue as counsel. McIntosh’s next could dates are a pre-trial conference at 9 a.m. on Aug. 31 and a jury trial at 9 a.m. on Sept. 11. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only.

• Christopher Scott Jensen made an initial appearance on a fireworks-prohibited use charge. Jensen pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due by Aug. 31.

• Anette Avalos made an initial appearance on a reckless driving charge, a no valid driver’s license charge and a speeding charge. Avalos pleaded guilty to all charges. On the reckless driving charge the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75. The fine on the driver’s license charge is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. On the speeding charge the fine is $80 with a $28 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $168. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Breck James Hinton made an initial appearance on a fireworks-prohibited use charge. Hinton pleaded guilty and the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due by Aug. 31.

• Elise Hoop made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. Hoop pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due by Aug. 31.

• Norida Lopez De Barrera made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 27. Lopez De Barrera was released on her promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• John Peart made an initial appearance on a fireworks-prohibited use charge. Peart pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 8 in Magistrate Court.

• Steven Luther Randall, of Gilman, made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated-first offense charge and an open container charge. Eric Bidwell will be hired as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on July 27. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

Accidents

• On June 22, a car driven by Grant Daniel Mattox, 25, of Marshalltown, had just pulled onto Westwood Drive when it collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by Deborah Ann Block, 68, of Marshalltown, which was waiting for traffic to pass to turn left into United Bank and Trust. No injuries were reported. Mattox was cited for failure to stop in the assured, clear distance. Damage to the Mattox car was estimated at $3,000 while the Block vehicle received an estimated $1,500 in damage.

• On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Christopher James Parker, 20, of Williams, was exiting a parking spot at McDonald’s when it collided with the passenger door on a car driven by Barry Marvin Lynch, 72, of Marshalltown, which was driving through the lot. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Lynch car was estimated at $2,500 while the Parker vehicle received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Friday, a pickup driven by Michael Austin Bryngelson, 18, of Le Grand, was westbound on East Main Street when due to steering problems it struck a legally parked GMC Yukon. No injuries were reported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $1,500 each.

• On Friday, a vehicle driven by Antonio Lavell Lewis, 33, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Summit Street attempting a left turn when a car driven by Brandy Marie Leggio, 36, of Marshalltown, tried to pass him on the right and collided with Lewis’ rear bumper and left the scene. Leggio was cited for leaving the scene of an accident-failure to provide aid or information. Damage to the Leggio car was estimated at $200 while the Lewis vehicle received an estimated $150 in damage.

• On Friday, a car driven by Tiffany Lynn Harris, 27, of Marshalltown, was attempting to turn left into a driveway on South Center Street when she collided with a vehicle driven by Maria Socorro Razo, 59, of Tama, which was coming up on her driver’s side. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Harris car was estimated at $1,500 while the Socorro Razo vehicle received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Friday, Arturo Alonso Rico, 24, was arrested for criminal mischief-fifth degree.

• On Friday, James Garrett Roberts, 38, was arrested for criminal mischief-fifth degree.

• On Saturday,Jake Morgan Wallen, 23, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Saturday, Jamell Goodman, 58, was arrested for no insurance, no valid driver’s license and driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Sunday, Zachary Bolar, 37, was arrested for supplying alcohol to a person under the legal age limit.
