• Christopher James Anderson made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-second offense charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 9. Anderson is released on his promise to appear. If he owns or possesses any firearms, Anderson is to contact the Marshalltown Police Department and make arrangements to surrender them. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Kayla Elizabeth Ocampo made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a driving under suspension charge, a no valid driver’s license charge, a failure to carry registration charge and a seatbelt violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Oct. 9. Ocampo is released on her promise to appear.

• Andreas Jose Ibanez made an initial appearance on two counts of a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The contempt hearing is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 2. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Stacy Renee Kapayou made an initial appearance on a open container charge and a driving under suspension charge. Kapayou pleaded guilty to both charges. On the open container charge the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. The fine on the driving under suspension is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Jeremy Franklin Carroll made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Court. Carroll is being held without bond.

• Livianette Guzman Correa made an initial appearance on a no valid driver’s license charge and a no insurance charge. Guzman Correa pleaded guilty to both charges. On the driver’s license charge the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330. The fine on the no insurance charge is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Javier Johnny Valencia made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge and a providing false identification information charge. Tyler Heeren has been hired as counsel. The contempt hearing has been scheduled at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 2. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• A 16-year-old male made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a no seatbelt charge and a no insurance charge. A not guilty plea was entered on all charges and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 31 in Magistrate Court.

• Deanne Lynne Witte made an initial appearance on a no vaccination charge. Witte pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• On Tuesday, a theft from a motor vehicle was reported in the 400 block of Plaza Heights Road.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Jeremy Carroll, 39, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Christopher Anderson, 40, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-second offense.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, 29, was arrested for failure to display registration plate, failure to secure a child, no valid driver’s license, driving under suspension and driving while barred.

• On Tuesday, Jasen Ralph Lucas, 39, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Charles Tyler Osgood, 26, was arrested for dominion or control of a firearm by a domestic abuse offender.

• On Tuesday, Marcie Hobbs, 28, was arrested for theft-fifth degree and unauthorized use of a credit card.

Accidents

• On Aug. 16, a minivan driven by Dennis Russell Henze, 80, of Zearing, was northbound on Cooper Avenue when it attempted to over take a farm tractor driven by Colton John Mason, 21, of Ames, at the same time Mason was initiated a left turn resulting in a collision. Mason said a family member would take him to the Nevada Hospital. Henze complained of pain, but refused treatment. Damage to the Mason tractor was estimated at $3,000 while the Henze minivan received an estimated $7,000 in damage.

• On Sept. 3, a car driven by Kyle Michael Harris, 20, of Gilman, was westbound on 290th Street when the driver hit a slick spot in the road and lost control resulting in it entering the south ditch and rolling over on its top. No injuries were reported. Harris was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to maintain a registration plate. Damage to the Harris car was estimated at $6,000.

• On Sept. 8, a vehicle driven by Joseph Lewis Cecak, 58, of Toledo, was eastbound on Iowa Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Cecak vehicle was estimated at $8,000.

• On Sept. 9, a pickup driven by Douglas Edward Poffenberger, 48, of Clemons, was westbound on Marshall Avenue in Clemons when it sideswiped a vehicle parked on Marshall Avenue scratching the driver’s side and breaking the mirror. No injuries were reported. Damage to the parked vehicle was estimated at $2,000 while the Poffenberger pickup received an estimated $500 in damage.

• On Sept. 9, a car driven by Megan Amber Wanatee, 23, of Montour, was eastbound on Highway 30 when the driver passed out due to a medical condition resulting in the car entering the median where it struck a guardrail before coming to a stop. No injuries were reported. Wanatee was cited for failure to maintain control. Damage to the Wanatee car was estimated at $9,000 while the guardrail received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

• On Sept. 11, a car driven by David Philip Lord, 60, of Clemons, was eastbound on 190th Street when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Lord car was estimated at $5,000.
