• Rodolpho “Rudy’ Vela made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge, an absence from custody charge and an interference with official acts charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set at 1 p.m. on Dec. 14 while the probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Vela is being held without bond.

• Kisha Christine Kutzner made an initial appearance on a domestic abuse assault-third or subsequent offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set at 1 p.m. on Dec. 14. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Robin Lynn Hrubetz made an initial appearance on a operating while under the influence-second offense charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set at 1 p.m. on Dec. 26. Hrubetz is released on his promise to appear. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Jeremy Ian Roberts made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge and an absence from custody charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is set at 1 p.m. on Dec. 14 while the probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Roberts is being held without bond.

Incidents

• On Wednesday, a case vandalism to property in an attempted burglary was reported in the 10 block of South Fifth Avenue.

Citations

• On Wednesday, Ram Thleng Zahup, 43, was cited for improper use of lanes.

• On Wednesday, Natasha Skye Kelderman, 26, was cited for no insurance-accident.

Arrests

• On Wednesday, Natasha Kelderman, 26, was arrested for driving while license is denied or revoked.

• On Wednesday, Jeremy Roberts, 35, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Thursday, Kisha Kutzner, 41, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-serious.

Accidents

• On Wednesday, a pickup driven by Mark Allen Smith, 61, of Marshalltown, was driving through the Fareway parking lot when a non-contact vehicle drove through the parking directly in front of the pickup resulting in Smith swerving to avoid contact and striking a light pole in the parking lot. Smith was transported to UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown. Damage to the Smith pickup was estimated at $4,000 while the light pole received an estimated $500 in damage.

• On Wednesday, a car driven by Dominic Michael Grego, 18, of Le Grand, was westbound on East Anson Street when the driver looked down at his radio and struck a legally parked Dodge car. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Grego car was estimated at $5,000 while the Dodge car received an estimated $4,000 in damage.

• On Wednesday, a car driven by a 16-year-old from State Center was southbound on the Frontage Road at the intersection with West Southridge Road when it pulled away from the stop sign into the path of a car driven by Natasha Skye Kelderman, 26, of Marshalltown, resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Kelderman was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $3,000 each.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Rosendo Gamaliel Ordonez Gonzalez, 34, was arrested for failure to use headlamps when required, no insurance, driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended and driving while barred-habitual offender.

• On Wednesday, Rodolpho Vela, 36, was arrested for voluntary absence from custody and violation of probation.

• On Wednesday, Lino Rivera-Reyes, 21, was arrested for domestic abuse assault-second offense

Accidents

• On Nov. 28, a vehicle driven by Norman Dean Charlton, 76, of Albion, was eastbound on 160th Street when it collided with the rear of a minivan driven by Eileen Metzger, 62, of Marshalltown, which was stopped at the intersection with Sanford Avenue. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Charlton vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the Metzger minivan received am estimated $2,500 in damage.

• On Dec. 1, a car driven by Richard Charles Eggers, 56, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Highway 330 when Eggers applied the brakes while reacting to a vehicle which had spun out into the median on the wet surface. When Eggers applied his brakes, his car spun out turning head on into the front of a car driven by Cynthia Anne Aikin, 66, of Gilman. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Eggers car was estimated at $5,000 while the Aikin car received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

• On Dec. 1, a car driven by Phillip Randell Dunston, 19, of Liscomb, was attempting to elude law enforcement traveling westbound on 160th Street in excess of 80 miles per hour when he attempted to turn left onto Lafayette Avenue, went out of control and entered the ditch where the car came to rest wedged between two trees. No injuries were reported. Dunston was cited for driving under suspension, no valid driver’s license, failure to maintain control, speeding and no insurance-accident. Dunston was arrested for eluding and possession of a controlled substance. Damage to the Dunston car was estimated at $1,500.

• On Dec. 3, a car driven by a 16-year-old male from Marshalltown was northbound on Highland Acres Road when it struck a deer that ran in front of his car. No injuries were reported. Damage to the juvenile’s car was estimated at $3,000.

• On Dec. 4, a vehicle driven by Ashley Renee Dvorak, 32, of Gladbrook, was westbound on Main Street Road when it struck a deer that jumped onto the road from the south ditch. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Dvorak vehicle was estimated at $4,000.

• On Dec. 4, a vehicle driven by Jeremy Allen Adkins, 36, of Marshalltown, was southbound on Zeller Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Adkins vehicle was estimated at $2,500.
