• Roberto Contreras Flores made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver charge, a possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver charge, two counts of a failure to affix a drug tax stamp charge, a prohibited acts charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 18. Bond is set at $25,000 cash only.

• Kevin Alexander Ruano Hernandez made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver charge, a possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver charge, two counts of a failure to affix a drug tax stamp charge, a prohibited acts charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 18. Bond is set at $25,000 cash only. Ruano Hernandez has an Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold on him.

• Ivan Ramirez Morales made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver charge, a possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver charge, two counts of a failure to affix a drug tax stamp charge, a prohibited acts charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 18. Bond is set at $25,000 cash only.

• Javier Garcia-Garcia made an initial appearance through a Spanish interpreter on a possession of methamphetamine-second offense charge and a failure to appear for arraignment charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 28 for the new charge. The arraignment hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Garcia-Garcia is released with supervision through the Department of Correctional Services and is to report to the adult probation office within 48 hours to sign a pre-trial release agreement. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Elisa Marie Davenport, of Gladbrook, made an initial appearance on a forgery charge and an identity theft charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 28. Davenport is released on her promise to appear.

• Aleta Mae Alberts made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order/contempt of court charge and a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel for the probation violation. Breanna Nelson will continue as counsel for the contempt charge. The probation revocation hearing and the contempt hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A new no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• Kasadi Jean Becvar Lewis, of Le Grand, made an initial appearance on a possession of marijuana charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Becvar Lewis will hire her own counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 25. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Ernest Fletcher Williams made an initial appearance on a criminal mischief-fifth degree charge. Williams pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due within 30 days.

• Joseph Stevens, of Grinnell, made an initial appearance on a harassment-third degree charge. Jeff Hazen is appointed as counsel. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 13 in M

Magistrate Court. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected party.

• April Brubaker made an initial appearance through counsel, Marshon Dubbert, on a failure to appear for a sentencing hearing. The sentencing hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. Brubaker is released on her promise to appear.

• Travis Michael Lamb made an initial appearance through a on a possession of marijuana charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. Lamb will hire his own counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Jan. 25. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

Incidents

• On Tuesday, a theft by fraud was reported to the Marshalltown Police Station.

• On Tuesday, a hit and run accident was reported in the 400 block of West Meadow Lane.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Aleta Alberts, 46, was arrested for contempt of court/violation of a no-contact order and on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Elisa Davenport, 26, was arrested for identity theft and forgery.

• On Tuesday, Jed Pothast, 31, was arrested for driving while revoked.

Accidents

• On Tuesday, Jan. 8, a vehicle driven by an unknown driver struck a legally parked Toyota Camry on West Meadow Lane and left the scene. Damage to the Toyota Camry was estimated at $2,000.
