Court — Wednesday

• Erin Michelle Burnie made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only.

• Zachary John Umbaugh made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. Breanna Nelson is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

• Joseph Lee Moore made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

• Austin Leo Bollas made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a no insurance charge. Bollas pleaded guilty to the driving under suspension charge and the fine is $250 with an $87.50 sucharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due within 30 days. He pleaded not guilty to the insurance charge and a pre-trial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on March 20 in Magistrate Court.

• Jakeup Surber, of State Center, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and a operating without registration charge. Surber pleaded guilty to both charges. On the driving under suspension charge the fine is $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50. The fine on the operation without registration is $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50. All payments are due within 30 days.

• Tracy Cartee made an initial appearance on a no valid driver’s license charge. Cartee pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 20 in Magistrate Court.

• George Gomez made an initial appearance on a theft-fifth degree charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on March 20 in Magistrate Court. Christian Stickrod is appointed as counsel.

• Roberto Kephart Andrade made an initial appearance on a failure to stop in the assured, clear distance charge. Kephart Andrade pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

Incidents

• On Tuesday, two thefts were reported in the 400 block of East South Street.

• On Tuesday, a hit and run accident with property damage only was reported in the 100 block of South Center Street.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Robert Needs, 42, was arrested for no insurance, driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended and operation while under the influence-third or subsequent offense.

Accidents

• On Monday, a vehicle driven by Diego Marroquin Ventura, 42, of Marshalltown, was southbound on South Sixth Street stopped at the stoplight when a semi was attempting to make a left turn and Marroquin Ventura started backing up to give the semi room and collided with the front of a car driven by Salvador Lara Marceleno, 43, of Marshalltown, sitting directly behind him. No injure-is wee reported. Marroquin Ventura was cited for no valid driver’s license, unsafe backing on the highway and leaving the scene of an accident-property damage only. Damage to the Marroquin Ventura vehicle was estimated a $150 while the Lara Marceleno car received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a vehicle driven by Susan Diane Dudley, 45, of Marshalltown, was northbound in the parking lot of Git N Go attempting to turn left to pull into the pump area when a car driven by Rhonda Ann Lester, 32, of Marshalltown, passed her on the left resulting in a collision. No injuries were reported. Lester was cited for no insurance-accident. Damage to the Lester car was estimated at $100 while the Dudley vehicle received an estimated $1,800 in damage.

• On Tuesday, a Nissan Sentra legally parked at Wells Fargo downtown received hit and run damage to the front bumper. Nothing is known about the striking vehicle. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Nissan Sentra was estimated at $2,000.

Arrests

• On Tuesday, Jakeup Jay Landon Surber, 28, was arrested for driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended.

• On Tuesday, Joseph Lee Moore, 28, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, Erin Michelle Burnie, 39, was arrested on a warrant.

• On Tuesday, James Robert Eckheart, 36, was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Feb. 15, a car driven by Lavonne Ione Meyer, 78, of Marshalltown, was northbound on Reed Avenue when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Meyer car was estimated at $4,000.
