• Tyler Joe Birkness made an initial appearance on a theft-second degree charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 12. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.

• Michael L. Maxwell made an initial appearance on a child endangerment charge and a domestic abuse assault charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 24. Maxwell is released on his promise to appear. A no-contact order has been issued for the protected parties.

• Tanya Louise Bradbury made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash only.

• Eric Ramon Lasley made an initial appearance on a release violation charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. A jury trial will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

• Matthew Dean Barber made an initial appearance on a possession of methamphetamine charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 24. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case. A substance abuse evaluation is ordered with the results submitted to the court within 60 days.

• Maria Mora Garcia made an initial appearance on a barking dob charge. Garcia pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days.

• A 17-year-old male made an initial appearance on a speeding charge and a violation of a minor’s license charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on June 5 in Magistrate Court.

• Miguel Ordaz Ochoa made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge and an eluding charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 24. Ordaz Ochoa is released on his promise to appear.

• Michael Dale Reeves made an initial appearance on a failure to appear for an arraignment charge. Marshon Dubbert will continue as counsel. The arraignment hearing will be rescheduled by the District Associate Court. Bond will continue as posted until the conclusion of this case.

• Josue Jiovanni Ortiz made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge, a driving while barred charge and a no valid driver’s license charge. The public defender’s office is appointed as counsel. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 24. Ortiz is released on his promise to appear.

• Juan Eduardo Rivas Martinez made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge. The preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on April 23.

• Michael Timothy Bruns made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge and a no vaccination charge. A pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9:30 a.m. on May 8 in Magistrate Court.

Incidents

• On Thursday, a hit and run accident was reported to the Marshalltown Police Station.

• On Thursday, a theft was reported in the 1100 block of South Center Street.

• On Thursday, a theft of a motor vehicle was reported in the 200 block of South 17th Avenue.

Arrests

• On Friday, Brian Gray, 27, was arrested for selling or dispensing alcohol or beer after hours.

• On Thursday, Michael Maxwell, 59, was arrested for child endangerment and domestic abuse assault-serious-minor injury.

• On Thursday, David Brown, 55, was arrested for driving under suspension.

• On Thursday, Tanya Bradbury, 37, was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Friday, a car driven by a 16-year-old male from Marshalltown was exiting a driveway onto West State Street when it struck a legally parked Honda Pilot. No injuries were reported. The juvenile was cited for unsafe backing. Damage to the Honda Pilot was estimated at $2,500 while the car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

• On Thursday, a vehicle driven by Maria Del Carmen Romero De Davila, 56, of Marshalltown, was northbound on North Second Street approaching the intersection with Linn Street when the vehicle went passed the stop sign and collided with car driven by Christine Marie Feagan, 71, of Marshalltown. No injuries were reported. Romero De Davila was cited for failure to obey a stop sign and yield the right of way. Damage to the Romero De Davila vehicle was estimated at $1,000 while the Feagan car received an estimated $10,000 in damage.

• On Wednesday, a car driven by Clarence Isaiah McGee, 39, of Ankeny, was westbound on Highway 30 when the driver became drowsy and drifted into the outside lane and collided with the trailer of a semi driven by Danny Allan Schuett, 63, of Tama. No injuries were reported. McGee was cited for no valid driver’s license and improper lane change. Damage to the Schuett semi was estimated at $100 while the McGee car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

Incidents

• On Thursday, vandalism to property in an attempted burglary was reported in the town of Clemons.

• On Sunday, March 31, two cases of vandalism to property were reported in the town of Liscomb.

Arrests

• On Thursday, Thomas Vasquez Guido, 19, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana-first offense.

• On Thursday, Eric Lasley, 44, was arrested on a warrant.

Accidents

• On Sunday, a car driven by Larry Lynn Andreesen, 57, of Vinton, was eastbound on Highway 30 when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Andreesen car was estimated at $8,000.
