Linn Creek Arts Festival raffle tickets available

Two great pieces of artwork will be raffled off at this year’s Linn Creek Arts Festival to be held July 15 on the grounds of Marshalltown’s Fisher Community Center, 709 S. Center St. Tickets are just $5 and offer a chance to win painter Daniel Marks’ “Pine Lake” 30×30-inch acrylic print ($500 value) or sculptor David Leeper’s 10-inch welded steel sculpture ($100 value). All proceeds benefit LCAF. Tickets are currently available at Art & Frame on Main and FCC or at the festival itself.

The 2017 LCAF will feature more than 60 talented artists from across Iowa and seven other states who will be selling a wide variety of work. Admission is free. The event takes place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to the artists who were juried into the festival, a group of high school and college-age artists will be featured in a new “Emerging Artists” area.

Amber Danielson, director of the Marshall County Arts & Culture Alliance and Linn Creek co-chair, reports, “Festival attendees will find many favorite artists from past festivals and will be able to welcome nearly 20 artists who are new to our event.”

Juried artists applied to the Linn Creek Arts Festival during January and February via an internet-based forum, and in March, a jury including art educators and collectors selected artists to invite. In addition to creativity and quality, jurors sought a balanced representation of ceramics, jewelry, glass, wood, metal, fiber, mixed media, painting, photography and more.

Food vendors, live entertainers and a wide array of youth activities round out the Linn Creek Arts Festival. For more information or to volunteer, visit www.linncreekartsfest.org, follow Linn Creek on Facebook or call Danielson at 641-752-2787.
