Lisbon to host 2018 Eurovision Song Contest

LISBON, Portugal — Organizers say next year’s Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. Portugal will be hosting the annual event for the first time after Salvador Sobral, the singer representing the country this year, won in 2017. Sobral clinched Portugal’s maiden victory with a gentle, soulful ballad and a subdued performance that broke with the contest’s tradition of glitter and gaudiness.
