Volunteer FDs respond to Green Mountain fire

Cause of fire remains under investigation

GREEN MOUNTAIN — A house fire at 306 Green Mountain Road in Green Mountain Wednesday morning resulted in the loss of several pets, as well as heavy smoke and water damage to the one-story, four bedroom structure.

No one was home at the time of the incident.

Volunteer fire departments from Albion, Beaman, Green Mountain and Le Grand responded to a call at 11:23 a.m. from Jay Kuiper, an employee with Moler Sanitation of Conrad. Kuiper was driving past the residence when he noticed smoke.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Green Mountain Fire Department.

Also providing assistance was the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.
