Central Iowa Healthcare Foundation and Central Iowa Healthcare, in cooperation with the Radiologists of McFarland Clinic, PC, are pleased to announce the Prevent Fund’s second Screening Mammogram Clinic for eligible women April 20.

Screenings will be provided by CIH’s board-certified mammography technologists at its Outpatient Center across from Marshalltown Community College on Highway 14.

To apply, visit centraliowahealthcare.com/foundation and download an application to return by March 31. Qualifying applicants will be selected and notified in April.

“Screening mammograms help make it possible to find breast cancer early, when the successful treatment of the disease is the highest,” said Julie Katzer, Director of Diagnostic Imaging at CIH. “Our mission is to provide women the opportunity for early detection, without having the additional financial burden that can occur for those that are uninsured, underinsured, or insured with a high deductible plan.”

Costs for qualifying women will be covered by the Prevent Fund and Iowa Care for Yourself. CIH Foundation’s Prevent Fund receives proceeds from the Foundation’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon and other earmarked gifts. The mission of the Prevent Fund is to reduce the impact of breast cancer on the lives of Central Iowans.

To be eligible for a free screening mammogram, women must complete an application and be over age 40 or over age 35 with a family history of breast cancer and have not yet received their first screening mammogram. Additionally, applicants must meet income guidelines and be underinsured, uninsured or insured with a high deductible plan.

Applications for the clinic are available at CIH locations and on the website centraliowahealthcare.com/foundation. Applications must be submitted to the Foundation by March 31 to be considered for the clinic.

Qualifying applicants will be contacted and scheduled in early April for appointments throughout the day on April 20.
