Competitive shooting
The Iowa Police Combat League gathered at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office over the weekend for competitive shooting events, fellowship and the league’s annual award luncheon. The Iowa Police Combat League (IPCL) was established in 1982 and is comprised of active and retired law enforcement officers from Iowa and surrounding states. The MCSO has hosted IPCL events for more than a dozen years where competitors fire a 1,500 match, a timed-fire course of 150 rounds from distances ranging between seven and 50 yards and an optional 48-round duty weapon course. The competitor classifications are determined by skill level. Davis County Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Josh O’Dell and Marshall County Sheriff’s Deputy Shane Sweitzer received the Governor’s 20 award with each participating in at least four 1,500 matches the prior season.
