Food items again will be collected as part of the MPD’s “Fill the Squad Car Challenge” on Saturday, June 3 from 12-2 p.m. at HyVee and from 2-4 p.m. at Fareway. Officers will be accepting monetary donations for milk vouchers and food items including: 16 oz. cans of tomatoes, tomato sauce, spaghetti sauce, potatoes, corn, green beans, peas, carrots, mixed vegetables, and pork and beans; 16 or 29 oz. cans of peaches, pears, mixed fruit, applesauce and pineapple; 10.5 oz. cans of soup (chicken noodle, tomato, vegetable, creamed soups, etc.); large cans of meaty soup; large or small cans of chicken or tuna; packaged rice, macaroni, spaghetti, noodles, instant potatoes, macaroni and cheese, helper dinners; large or small jars of peanut butter; large cans or bottles of fruit juice (except grapefruit); and all sizes of dry cereal. All donations will go to the Emergency Food Box.
