Roof collapses in Marshalltown
No injuries reported
A structural deficiency is being blamed for a roof collapse Sunday within the 700 block of North 3rd Avenue.
The Marshalltown Fire Department was called to the scene shortly before 2 p.m. upon the report of a roof collapse and leaking gas.
Assistant Fire Chief Chris Cross, who was on scene with other MFD personnel, told the Times-Republican no one was injured in the incident and natural gas to the structure was turned off immediately.
“The roof collapsed due to a structural deficiency and not the result of straight winds,” said Cross.
Additionally, orders had been given to disconnect electricity.
No other details were available.
In addition to a racing business, the structure houses a bakery.
