Postal worker killed in collision

Authorities were continuing their investigation into a fatal two-vehicle accident Friday that claimed the life of a postal worker at the intersection of Church and South Center Street in downtown Marshalltown over the noon hour. Trooper Alex Dinkla with the Iowa State Patrol told the Times-Republican that a mini-van headed southbound on Center Street collided with a U.S. Postal Service vehicle that was westbound on Church Street. Dinkla said the collision caused the postal vehicle to roll on its side, killing the driver. The driver of the mini-van was injured, but no other details were available as to their condition. The trooper said the investigation continues and that no names were being released pending notification of the next of kin.
