Burglary suspect arrested



On Saturday at approximately 4:10 p.m., officers from the Marshalltown Police Department received a report of a burglary to a residence where numerous items of jewelry were taken from the home. During the process of their investigation, an attentive neighbor had reported to police that they observed a subject in the area of the crime and provided officers with a detailed description of the suspect.

On Sunday, an officer observed a subject matching the description of the burglary suspect in the area of the Marshalltown 6th Street Softball Complex. During the course of the officer’s investigation, the subject was placed under arrest for being in possession of drug paraphernalia As the investigation continued, officers also found that the subject was in unlawful possession of prescription medication, numerous items of property that was reported stolen on Saturday and items reported stolen on Friday during a burglary report at a separate location where a firearm was stolen. The firearm has been recovered.

Arrested was Jacob Lawrence Hansen, 26, of Marshalltown. Hansen is being charged with 2 counts of Burglary 3rd Degree, Class “D” Felony, Possession of a Weapon by a Felon, Class “D” Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Enhanced), Class “D” Felony, Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug, Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Simple Misdemeanor.

Hansen was taken to the Marshall County Jail.
