The 2nd Annual CIAA (Central Iowa Art Association) Members’ Art Exhibition reception will be held Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. inside the Fisher Community Center Auditorium. The event is a chance to browse a diverse selection of locally made artwork, and learn more about the CIAA.

“This is a great opportunity to see what our group of artists have to offer,” said CIAA Executive Director Keeley Weeks.

Over 20 artists will be showcasing their wares, ranging from photography, ceramics, paintings, drawings, air brush, colored pencil, mixed media, and more. Most, but not all, of the pieces will be available for purchase. The artists will be on hand to answer questions about their artwork, and share what inspires them to create.

The exhibition, which is free and open to the public, will offer complimentary wine and cheese to attendees.

Immediately following the reception will be the CIAA’s annual meeting.

“We will vote for new officers, talk about plans for the future, membership, and give a financial report,” Weeks said. “It will be a huge recap of our work, but more of a discussion than a presentation, because we want our members to feel that this is their art center. It’s a great time to join the CIAA, at a discounted rate.”

The meeting is open to the public.

The artists’ artwork will remain on display through the end of the month, viewable during normal FCC business hours.

The CIAA is a non-profit organization.
