City candidate filing period begins August 28th

The city candidate filing period gets under way later this month with numerous council and mayoral posts up for election Nov. 7 throughout Marshall County.

The filing period begins on Aug. 28 and continues through to 5 p.m. Sept. 21. Those interested in filing should do so with their respective city clerks.

Potential candidates should not file with the Marshall County Auditor’s office, per a new law change.

Those seats up for election include:

ALBION: Mayor (two-year term); Council-at-large (five seats, all two-year terms).

CLEMONS: Mayor (two-year term); Council-at-large (five seats, all two-year terms).

FERGUSON: Mayor (two-year term); Council-at-large (five seats, all two-year terms).

GILMAN: Council-at-large (two seats, both four-year terms); Council to fill vacancy (one seat, two-year term).

HAVERHILL: Council-at-large (two seats, both four-year terms).

LAUREL: Council-at-large (three seats, all four-year terms).

LE GRAND: Mayor (four-year term); Council-at-large (two seats, both four-year terms).

LISCOMB: Mayor (two-year term); Council-at-large (two seats, both four-year terms).

MARSHALLTOWN: Mayor (four-year term); Council-at-large (two seats, both four-year terms); Council First Ward (four-year term); Council Third Ward (four-year term).

MELBOURNE: Mayor (four-year term): Council at-large (two seats, both four-year terms).

RHODES: Council-ar-large (two seats, both four-year terms).

STATE CENTER: Mayor (two-year term); Council-at-large (three seats, all four-year terms).

ST. ANTHONY: Mayor (two-year term): Council-at-large (five seats, all two-year terms).
