ABOVE: The snake shown is not alive, but rather, was made of flowers by Maeve Janssen of Marshalltown. Maeve earned third place at the Iowa State Fair in the Junior Floriculture competition. She also won first place honors for a sailboat. Jorja Janssen of Marshalltown took home a blue ribbon for a first place with her snake, while also earning a fourth place for an American flag. The Junior Floriculture competition is for young gardeners seven and under. AT LEFT: Abby Feldpausch of Beaman proudly leads the steer she raised for the Farm Bureau of Central Iowa that was exhibited by FarmHER founder and president, Marji Guyler-Alanzi, during the 35th annual Governor’s Charity Steer Show at the fair. Guyler-Alanzi walks behind Feldpausch alongside Big Fell[HER]. Also accompanying her are members of the Feldpausch and Malcolm Miller families.The Iowa State Fair continues through Sunday.
