Traffic stop leads to arrest and jail


A traffic stop by a Marshalltown police officer earlier this week led to an investigation of the vehicle’s operator, which uncovered multiple warrants on a host of charges, according to Marshall County District Court records. Jacob Allen Chamberlin, 22, of Marshalltown, faces counts on Theft-third degree-enhanced for two bogus checks of more than $800 to a local retailer, Theft-second degree, for seven checks of more than $1,000 to another local retailer, and a warrant for failure to appear for arraignment on a OWI-first offense charge. Additionally, he was charged with failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, a stop sign violation, and no valid driver’s license. He was arrested and taken Marshall County Jail. A preliminary hearing is 1 p.m. on Aug. 31. Bond is $5,000 cash or surety.
