Blood drives in Marshalltown
‘Battle of the Badges’ this Thursday; American Legion event Sept. 18
Two upcoming blood drives are scheduled this month.
Up first, a friendly competition between the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, the Marshalltown Police Department and the Marshalltown Fire Department will yield more than bragging rights.
The annual Marshalltown “Battle of the Badges” blood drive will be held from 12-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7 at the Salvation Army Community Center, 107 W. State St.
Blood donors can support their favorite organization by checking off which agency gets their vote. But more importantly, officials with the three agencies say it’s about needed blood donations that can save lives.
For an appointment, call (800) RED-CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Next, the American Legion Post 46 will sponsor a blood drive from 2-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18 at Post headquarters, 1301 S. 6th St.
Those able to donate can schedule their appointments online at www.lifeservebloodcenter.org or contact Kevin Huseboe at (641) 751-8954.
