Drive-by shooting leads to 2 arrests

A drive-by shooting that took place earlier this week led to the arrest of two suspects and a continuing investigation by Marshalltown Police. On Tuesday, at approximately 2:30 a.m., he MPD were dispatched to a report of a drive-by shooting in the 1200 block of Rolling Meadows Road. No one was injured, but there was property damage to a home. One handgun round was fired through a window. Capt. Chris Jones of the MPD said he could not comment on the relationship, if any, between the suspects arrested in connection with the incident and occupants. When officers arrived, a witness who observed a suspect vehicle leave the area provided them with a description of the vehicle and driver. At approximately 1:10 p.m. officers located the suspected vehicle and driver along with another passenger parked at local convenience store on Main Street. Both the driver and passenger were taken into custody without incident. Officers arrested Tyson Alan Hinders, 30, of Marshalltown and charged him with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon- Class “C” Felony; Possession of Firearms as a Felon- Class “D” Felony; Going Armed with Intent- Class “D” Felony ; Carrying Weapons-Aggravated Misdemeanor; Driving while Revoked- Serious Misdemeanor and Fraudulent Use of Registrations- Serious Misdemeanor. Also charged was Robert Steven Sanders, 34, of Marshalltown via an Arrest Warrant for Violation of Pre-Trial Release Restrictions and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia- Simple Misdemeanor. Hinders and Sanders were taken to the Marshall County Jail. Hinders’ preliminary hearing is Sept. 18 at 1 p.m., in the Marshall County Courthouse. $22,000 cash only bond.
