Man injures girlfriend during argument

A Marshalltown man is accused of injuring his girlfriend during an argument.

According to Marshalltown Police Department Capt. Brian Batterson, officers responded to a domestic disturbance call early Thursday morning after a woman reportedly went to her neighbors’ for help after she allegedly had been cut by a knife by her boyfriend during an argument.

Officers subsequently interviewed, arrested and charged Ram Thlena Zahup, 42, of Marshalltown with domestic abuse assault, going armed with intent, false imprisonment and first-degree harassment.

His girlfriend was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for a knife wound to her hand; the injury was not life threatening.

Zahup is currently being held in the Marshall County Jail.
