Grandview

• Adam Cunningham, of Nashville, formerly of Grandview, advanced to the third round of the blind auditions of “The Voice” and secured a spot on Team Blake by singing “Midnight Rider” on Season 13 of “The Voice” Monday night. Cunningham, a session singer in Nashville, grew up singing at churches with his mom and dad before releasing a few Christian albums as a young adult. Cunningham was a 1997 graduate of Louisa-Muscatine High School. — The Wapello Republican

• Central City’s favorite female wrestler, Lexi Hennick, 11, made it to the top of the podium when she won by fall in 47 seconds over Olivia Hamma. Hennick was named the National Champion at 85 pounds in Girls Division II. — Linn News-Letter

West Branch

• Some 43 people, mostly West Branch High School students, gathered around the flagpole at 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 27 to pray for their school and community during the National See You At The Poll event. The student-led prayer grew from about a dozen student during the first year in 2015 to around 40 in 2016 and a few more this year. — West Branch Times

North Liberty

• Money magazine named North Liberty one of the best 100 places to live in 2017 in the nationwide assessment that considered more than 70 separate types of data, according to the magazine, looking at factors sharing each town’s economy, cost of living, education, housing, crime, amenities and ease of living. North Liberty was recognized as No. 75 on the list. The citation noted North Liberty’s 5.2 percent projected job growth, 19-minute average commute time and $77,983 median household income. — North Liberty Leader
