Trick-or-treating — library style

Pre-school aged children and younger gathered Wednesday morning for the annual free trick-or-treating event held at the Marshalltown Public Library. Dozens of little tikes and their caretakers heard Halloween-themed stories then got to parade around the library showing off their costumes. At each stop throughout the building, the kids received treats to put in their buckets and sacks, including bouncy eye balls, spider rings, toothbrushes and cheese cracker snacks. Little ones dressed up in costumes including strawberries, sharks, cheerleaders, princesses and more. Pictured is library staff member Ann Rolston handing out treats to the Dobbs siblings: Asher, 5, who dressed as an astronaut, Everett, 3, who went as a pilot, and Oliver, 1, outfitted as a sheriff.
