When Jett Rosekopf, 9, walks down the halls of Marshalltown Christian School, he’s met with warm greetings by students of all grade levels.

“I get hugs sometimes,” Jett said. “I like to be a mentor to the younger kids.”

The fourth grader’s homeroom teacher, Lindsey Lawrence, echoed this sentiment.

“He’s a good example to the other students. He’s a good kid all around,” she said.

Jett most enjoys math class, where he’s learning how to divide and multiply. In his spare time, he likes playing sports and spending time outdoors.

“I usually go outside and play basketball and [jump] on the trampoline. And I play Nintendo,” the student said.

One of three children, he has two brothers. The family has a pet beagle. Jett likes to help out in the kitchen sometimes.

“My favorite food is ravioli,” he said.

Another highlight is having the opportunity to go on youth trips.

“My father is a pastor, so I get to go to events with the older kids and do fun stuff,” he said.

One of his proudest accomplishments is winning trophies for his excellence in playing soccer and basketball.

When Jett grows up, he envisions becoming a veterinarian.

“I kind of want to be a vet. I like being around animals,” the fourth grader said.

Jett has set academic goals for himself, including improving his reading and writing abilities.

“I’m trying to get better at language arts,” he said.

Jett likes to travel. His dream destination is Disneyland.
