Caring Center Inc. needs help finding new location

A local organization which has aided needy Central Iowans since 1989 is now asking Marshalltownians for help.

The Caring Center Inc., 110 W. Main St., must find a different location to continue its faith-based mission of offering free-of-charge bedding, clothes, shoes and small household items, said Donna Patton, a volunteer.

Patton said the not-for-profit charitable organization has not had success finding a new site, so they are appealing to the community for information about rental property.

“The building The Caring Center has been renting was sold, so we must move,” she said. “We would like 1,800 square feet –what we have now. We can afford to pay $300 to $400 per month.”

Contact Patton as soon as possible at 641-753-8280 or rgpatton62@yahoo.com.

TCC depends solely on donations from area churches, individuals, and organizations to pay rent and utilities. It is staffed exclusively by seven volunteers.

The Caring Center is open two days per week and serves approximately 50 individuals weekly.

Patton said the Caring Center has been at 110 W. Main St., since 2012.

That move came after an arson-induced fire at a East Main Street building forced TCC and several other enterprises to move or close.
