City of Marshalltown accepting funding requests
There is still time for Marshalltown organizations to apply to the city council for funding.
The deadline is noon Thursday.
An application and information can be found on he city’s website,
It provides a brief project explanation, followed by an application form.
The top third of the application requires organization name, address, contact name/email, and asks if organization is a 501(c) 3.
Other questions describe how funding from the city will be used, why funding city is needed, and would the organization request money for the same purpose in future.
The final question inquires if the funding requests supports aligns with city goals of housing, public image, improving the city’s organization and services, followed by partnering with others to approve qualify of life in Marshalltown.
Organizations must submit completed applications to city hall or City Administrator Jessica Kinser.
Additionally, completed application forms may be emailed to jkinser@marshalltown-ia-gov.
Applications will be reviewed by the council and staff at the noon, Feb. 5, special city council meeting on the fiscal year 2019 budget in city council chambers.
Awards would be for the fiscal year 2019 beginning July 1, 2018.
The names of organizations, amounts requested, and other information from applications, “will be available to the public when we release the packet
for the council meeting Feb. 2,” said Kinser.
“This (application process) is brand new,” said Fourth Ward councilor Al Hoop. “It will be interesting to see what groups submit applications, and how much they will request.”
