Man faces second domestic abuse charge

A local man is in the Marshall County Jail after Marshalltown police arrested him for domestic abuse assault second offense, and domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury.

Mark Nathan Hoover, 38, was charged with the counts earlier this week according to police records. Police records said the victim did not lose consciousness and Hoover did not use a weapon.

He made an appearance in court Thursday via video from jail, where he is being held on $5,000 cash bond. Local attorney Jeff Hazen was appointed to represent Hoover.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m., Feb. 2, in Marshall County District Court.
