Marshalltown woman charged in stabbing incident

TOLEDO — A Marshalltown woman is in trouble with the law after authorities charged her in a stabbing incident over the weekend in Toledo.

According to the Toledo Police Department, at 6:38 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to Designer Inn and Suites for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, the officers made contact with a male and female in a room. The male was found to be suffering from multiple wounds made by a sharp instrument. The female was taken into custody and the male was transported to UnityPoint Health by Toledo EMS for treatment of his non-life threatening injuries.

Sgt. Dan Quigley with the TPD told the T-R that Monica Aiken, 53, of Marshalltown was arrested and charged with:

• Domestic abuse assault with a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.

• Willful injury causing bodily injury, a Class D felony.

Aiken is currently being held in the Tama County Jail.
