Scam at the gas pump
State Center PD seeking information on theft
TIMES-REPUBLICAN
STATE CENTER — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance following a theft at a State Center convenience store.
At about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, an officer was dispatched to the Casey’s on a report of a theft. According to State Center Police Chief Jeff Bunn, a customer was approached by a male in the parking lot who claimed to be an employee. The victim was told that the store was running a special event and they were collecting money at the pump and the customer would receive a discount on fuel. The customer gave the money (a $10 bill) and the male subject then jumped into a white Nissan Altima and left northbound on 3rd Avenue SW at a high rate of speed.
Bunn is reminding the public to be aware and report any suspicious activity and suspects to local authorities.
