Man faces six child endangerment counts

Villa-Magana

A local man was charged with six counts of child endangerment earlier this week after Marshalltown police were dispatched to his home and found him in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Diego Villa-Magana, 31, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance-third offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia according to MPD and Marshall County District Court records.

The child endangerment charges stem from the suspect being in possession of the controlled substance within the reach or grasp of a child, and the drug paraphernalia also in the reach or grasp of a child, according to the MPD report. Also earlier this week, Marshall County District Court Judge Kevin O’Hare issued six no contact orders to protect the six juveniles in the residence. Villa-Magana was transported to Marshall County Jail after the arrest. He later posted a $10,000 cash bond and was released according to jail officials. His preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. March 2.
