Traffic stop leads to meth arrest

A traffic stop by Marshalltown police earlier this week led to the arrest of Diego Nathaniel Murillo, 20. He was charged with possession of meth with the intent to deliver more than five grams — a Class B felony.

MPD Capt. Brian Batterson said Murillo was wanted on a warrant and taken into custody. As a result of the subsequent vehicle search, a baggy containing more than four grams of methamphetamine and a second baggy containing approximately five grams of methamphetamine was found. A scale and $1,000 in cash was also confiscated. Murillo faces addiitonal charges of driving while revoked, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

His preliminary hearing will be 1 p.m., on Feb. 8 in Marshall County District Court. He is also being held in the jail on a $50,000 cash only bond.
