Woman arrested for domestic assault



An argument between a couple later led to the woman’s arrest for domestic assault, according to a Marshalltown Police Department report.

Courtney Dorothy Louise Powers 19, was arrested by the MPD after the victim personally appeared at police headquarters and filed a complaint he had been assaulted by Powers.

Powers was charged with domestic abuse/assault impeding flow of air/blood strangulation earlier this week.

“He suffered some slight injuries,” said Capt. Brian Batterson of the MPD. “Paramedics treated him, and released him from the police department.”

Marshall County District Court Magistrate Kevin O’Hare issued a no contact order and also ordered a the state’s public defender office to represent Powers. She was taken to Marshall County Jail. Her preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. March 12.
