Woman charged with assaulting local hospital employee
A Marshalltown woman was arrested by the Marshalltown Police Department earlier this week for allegedly assaulting a UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown employee.
Cheryl Bolen, 45, was being discharged and became upset, according to Capt. Brian Batterson of the MPD. She then assaulted an employee who was trying to assist her.
“The employee suffered a small and minor injury that did not require medical attention,” said Batterson.
Bolen was charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations-Bodily Injury and then taken to Marshall County Jail.
“The safety and security of our patients and staff is of the utmost importance,” said Laura Rainey, UnityPoint Health Regional Marketing Director. “We did have a situation on Wednesday that involved the MPD. This is now a police matter so we cannot comment any further.”
