Tuesday afternoon at Grimes Farm and Conservation Center, ISU Extension Forester Jesse Randall, left, showed Brown Bag Bunch participants how to graft apple trees. The hands-on program introduced attendees to this skill, which involves combining a bottom rootstock of one tree to the scion (budding branch) of another tree to make it later grow into the (fruit) tree of one’s choosing.
