The Linn Creek bridge and connecting portions of Center Street will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. Monday for two weeks or more, depending on weather and scope of repairs, said Marshalltown Public Works Director Justin Nickel at a city council meeting earlier this week. “The repairs are a continuation of last falls work,” he said. “In the fall … we worked on the north abutment and ran into more repairs than anticipated. This spring we will make the same repairs to the south abutment, with hopes the work will be as anticipated and not grow in scope. If repairs go as expected, estimated cost is $100,000. If additional repairs are needed, such as the north abutment necessitated, estimated (cost is) $135,000.” Making repairs will be Jasper Construction of Newton.
