Soup and fellowship

St. Henry Catholic Church was the site of the House of Compassion’s annual Soup Bowl Luncheon fundraiser on Sunday. The public was invited to dine on homemade soup, breads and desserts, with proceeds going to fund the HoC’s various programs. Chicken noodle, potato, chili, vegetable beef, and corn chowder were the soups served. The soup bowls (which attendees got to keep) were crafted by Marshalltown High School art students. HoC Director Karen Frohwein said this year’s event had the largest turnout in recent memory. “We had every table in the room full, with people standing, besides,” she said. “It’s good people care about the people we serve.”
