A Gilman man was taken into custody at the Marshalltown Police Department Saturday and later taken to the Marshall County Jail on charges of domestic abuse assault and false imprisonment. According to Marshall County District Court and MPD records, the arrest of Mario Alberto Guevara-Ramirez, 30, was the result of an incident that occurred in September 2017. Capt. Brian Batterson of the MPD said the victim had a good reason in not reporting the incident earlier. The defendant had been in a previous relationship with the victim, Batterson said. The defendant went into the victim’s home to accuse her of an indiscretion. When the victim left the home in fear, the defendant grabbed the victim’s hair and pulled her to the ground and into his vehicle causing bruising to the victim’s arm and chest area. The defendant then drove the victim around and prevented her from exiting the vehicle multiple times by pulling her back in by her hair. He finally let her exit the vehicle at her residence. Marshall County District Court Magistrate Barry Kaplan issued a no contact order against Guevara-Ramirez, meaning he can not contact the victim. The defendant’s preliminary hearing is July 26.
