A local woman was arrested by Marshalltown police and taken to Marshall County Jail last week for allegedly throwing a plate which hit the victim in the head. Capt. Brian Batterson of the MPD said Elizabeth Marie Bell, 29, was taken into custody after officers were dispatched to the 500 block of East Church Street upon report of a disturbance. Police determined the victim did suffer bodily injury, but did not require hospitalization. Consequently, the defendant was charged with assault causing bodily injury. Upon further investigation, police determined the defendant also had broken several windows in the residence during the incident. The repairs exceed $200 but not $500. Therefore, the defendant was also charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree. A Marshall County Magistrate issued a no contact order against the defendant, meaning she can not contact the victim.
