Help from down Highway 30

T-R PHOTO BY ADAM SODDERS - A collective effort of businesses and individuals in the town of Mount Vernon saw 200 pounds of pulled pork sent to Marshalltown for free meals Saturday. The effort began with Mount Vernon restaurant BigÕs BBQ Brew Pub and quickly grew into a city-wide effort to help Marshalltown storm victims. Baked beans, chips, cupcakes and water were also served to people who walked, biked and drove up to the food stand in the McFarland Clinic Parking lot along State Street. The effort was coordinated in part on the Marshalltown Tornado Relief Page on Facebook.
