Man arrested for theft and domestic assault

Quezada

A local man was arrested earlier this week on a warrant by Marshalltown police stemming from a domestic abuse assault-causing bodily injury incident earlier this month.

MPD and Marshall County District Court records showed Jessie Quezada, 31, was taken into custody and transported to Marshall County Jail. Additionally, the defendant faces a host of other charges, including theft in the fifth degree; purposely obstructing emergency communications and interference with official acts.

A criminal complaint and affidavit filed by the MPD said the victim had noticeable injuries to her left cheek and neck, resulting from the assault. The defendant left the scene and was not located. A warrant was issued.

At the defendant’s initial hearing also earlier this week, Marshall County District Court Magistrate Merrill Swartz issued a no contact order against him, meaning he can not contact the victim. The defendant remains in Marshall County Jail without bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Aug. 31.
