Man charged with domestic abuse second offense

A Marshalltown man involved in a domestic abuse incident last month was arrested recently by Marshalltown police on a warrant and taken to Marshall County Jail.

Eli Alan Eller, 40, was taken into custody on two criminal complaints according to MPD and Marshall County District Court records. The defendant shoved the victim — with whom he had a relationship — resulting in her falling into a metal table at a residence in the 200 block of Sharon Avenue, Capt. Brian Batterson of MPD said. The fall resulted in bruising and cuts to the victim’s body.

The defendant committed the domestic abuse crime in front of a child, according to the records, resulting in a child endangerment charge. Eller had left the scene before MPD arrived, resulting in a warrant issued.

A public defender was appointed to represent Eller by a magistrate. Additionally, the magistrate issued a no contact order against Eller, meaning he can not contact the victim. His preliminary hearing is Aug. 31.
