Officers from the Marshalltown Police Department, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, State Center Police Department and Iowa State Patrol among others will assemble Friday to support the annual “Cop on a Rooftop.”

The officers will stake themselves atop 21 participating Dunkin’ Donuts locations statewide to raise money for Special Olympics of Iowa. Officers will stand on the roof of the business while others are stationed at the entrance and drive-through collecting donations. Dunkin’ Donuts offers a free medium iced or hot coffee coupon when one makes a donation.

The event runs from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Dunkin’ Donuts, 10 La Frentz Lane. Marshall County law enforcement agencies raised $2,015 in just five hours last year which was the second highest fundraising in Iowa. The statewide effort seeks to exceed last year’s total of $23,156.
