T-R FILE PHOTO Marshall County Deputy Sheriff Wes Beane looks to see if a child was properly placed in a car seat and if it had the required attachments during a 2017 car seat safety check event.

The Marshall County Sheriffs Office and the Marshalltown Police Department will join forces from noon to 4 p.m Sunday conducting a Child Car Seat Safety Check in the parking lot of Fareway Grocery Store, 102 W. Anson St. The purpose is to ensure seats are properly installed in the vehicle, make adjustments for one’s growing child, answer questions about child passenger safety and replace damaged or recalled seats.

New seats will be available if replacement is required. New seats were purchased with money donated by Al Hoop of Marshalltown in memory of his wife, Donna Hoop, who was an advocate of child safety. Also donating toward the purchase of car seats was the Mid-Iowa Regional Board of Realtors. Photo identification is required. Child must be present in vehicle. Please bring owner’s manual and car seat owner’s manual for reference. For more information or to schedule an inspection on another day, please contact Lt. Rick Bellile at the Marshalltown Police Department, 641-754-5725 or Sgt. Ben Veren at the Marshall County Sheriff’s office, 641-754-6380.
