CONRAD — Conrad restaurants are participating in Main Street Iowa Restaurant Week.

The week runs Sept. 14 to Sept. 23 and encourages Iowans to travel to and dine in Main Street Iowa communities across the state.

During the 10-day event, nearly 150 restaurants in 28 communities will feature a variety of special dining offers, such as community-wide passports or punch cards that reward diners for visiting local restaurants, special menu pricing and more.

As Conrad joins in the week long festivities, the theme will be #HARVESTCONRAD.

“We chose this theme because we are a farming community and normally at this time of year the fall harvest would be underway,” said Conrad Chamber’s Main Street Executive Director Krista Grant. “We love it because this is a way to bring people from the surrounding area into Conrad and to see what the community has to offer.”

Grant said where some of the communities included on the tour will have specials every day, Conrad has chosen to spotlight a different business each of the 10 days.

“This way our local businesses will work together and help each other out,” Grant said. “By participating we are also on the Iowa tourism map which will also help to feature Conrad for other events.”

Participating restaurants include: RJ’s Lounge (Sept. 14 – Tenderloin Night); Maria’s Taco Bus (Sept. 17-18); Hometown Foods (Sept. 18 – Rib Fest); Oakwood Golf Course (Sept. 20 – Wing Special); Something to Share (Sept. 21 – Wine Tasting) and That Place (Sept. 21-22 – Prime Rib Special). If a person visits three restaurants/shops during the week on the tour, he or she will receive a punch card to enter a drawing for prizes from sponsors.

A list of participating communities and restaurants is available at traveliowa.com/msirestaurantweek. Diners are encouraged to share their experiences by using #MSIRestaurantWeek on Instagram and Twitter. Others participating Main Street communities in the Central Iowa area include Ames, Story City and Grundy Center.

“We’ve nearly doubled the number of communities participating this year,” said Michael Wagler, Main Street Iowa Coordinator in a press release. “There’s no better way to get the flavor of a community than by dining at a local restaurant, bar or bistro. Restaurant Week provides the perfect incentive for people to explore the state.”
