Going back in time

Top: Iowa Veterans Home residents were treated to two museum displays Tuesday, both provided by the State Historical Society of Iowa. One was the History on the Move: Iowa History 101 mobile museum — the display bus was parked on the IVH campus and welcomed visitors. Among the artifacts on board were a prototype of the Iowa flag from 1917 and a photo of the Meskwaki Youngbear family from 1925. The mobile unit moved on after Tuesday’s stop. Bottom: The other display at the Veterans Home was the World War I Honor Roll, also through the State Historical Society. The display shows about 4,000 Iowans who were casualties in the Great War in the early 1900s. Among those listed is U.S. Marine Frank Lewis Glick, the namesake of the Marshalltown American Legion post. The Honor Roll display will be available in the Malloy Leisure Resource Center (LRC) until Oct. 26.
