Water Works extends application deadline for CEO/GM

Vinson

The Marshalltown Water Works has extended an application deadline to Oct. 8 for candidates interested in applying for the Chief Executive Officer/General Manager position, said trustee Kenn Vinson of Marshalltown.

Last month Vinson said the Water Works is actively advertising the job opening in a variety of industry magazines.

“(Former MWW CEO/GM and current At-Large Councilor) Leon (Lamer) has been valuable in helping us prepare job qualifications and advertisements,” Vinson said.

The trustees have been managing the utility with staff since shortly after the death of CEO/GM Steve Sincox, 48, on July 9.

Sincox, an Ottumwa native and Iowa State University graduate, had been hired by MWW in 1995 and became CEO in December 2008.

Vinson told the city council last month that he and fellow trustees Laura Eilers, an attorney with Peglow, O’Hare and See, and Jerry Young, a retired banker, were working with three department heads to coordinate operations.

MWW is an independent utility and does not fall under the direction of the Marshalltown City Council.
