A local woman was arrested by Marshalltown police and taken to Marshall County Jail

earlier this week on charges of domestic abuse assault – second offense.

Alicia Tomasa Valdez, 23, was found to be primary aggressor in an incident according to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed in Marshall County District Court. Captain Brian Batterson of the MPD said the victim did not require medical attention. However, the defendant was charged for contempt – violation of a no contact order. A new no contact order was issued for the protected party. A public defender was appointed to represent Valdez. An initial hearing on the domestic abuse charge is Jan. 2. The defendant was released with supervision through the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.
