Gaylyn Welton, 77, of Garwin, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Central Iowa Healthcare.

Funeral services for Gaylyn will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Gaylyn Max Welton was born on September 11, 1938, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of June and Velma (Cooper) Welton. He was raised and educated in the Garwin School District, receiving his high school diploma from Garwin High School. On July 24, 1964, Gaylyn was united in marriage to the love of his life Janis Hill at the Garwin Methodist Church. He was blessed with six children, Wade, Kirk, Melanie, Darin, Robin and Rory.

Early in his career he delivered milk in Arizona. When he returned to Iowa he began working for D&J road service. Gaylyn began farming in 1964, while he also worked for Diamond Vogel for 10 years from 1991-2001. He had a passion for farming, spending time with his grandchildren, tractor rides, tractor pulls and any sporting events.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Janis Welton; children: Wade (Sonya) Welton, Kirk Welton, Brenda Welton, Melanie Stenson, Darin Welton, Robin (Bobby) Gauthier and Rory (Linda) Kalmes; grandchildren: Tanner and Mackenzie Thiessen, Olivia and Parker Welton, Rachel, Skylar and Ryleigh Stenson; sibling, Randy (Judy) Welton.

He is preceded in death by his parents, June and Velma Welton; brother, Gary Welton and brother-in-law, Jay Kellogg.
