Funeral Services for Shirley Ossman, 93, of Marshalltown, IA, were held Monday, October 3, 2016, at Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Nan Smith officiating. Mrs. Ossman was laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, IA.

Pallbearers were Darrell Burt, Alan Burt, John Harmsen, Rocky Ossman and Jon Norris.

Honorary Pallbearers were Dane Ossman, Rita Harmsen, Kyra Rudolph and Chloe Rudolph.

Mitchell Family Funeral Home was entrusted with the care of Mrs. Ossman and her family.

Shirley Ossman, 93, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, at Grandview Heights Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2016, at Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Nan Smith officiating. Public visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home, where her family will be present to greet friends. Shirley Powers was born on June 24, 1923, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Follie (Michaelson) Powers. She was raised and educated in the Charles City School District graduating from Charles City High School. Following high school, Shirley attended Marion College in Marion, Indiana for two years. On January 27, 1956, Shirley was united in marriage to Rev. Robert Ossman in Phoenix, Arizona. From this union two sons were born: Wes and Doug. Shirley was a very dedicated woman, whether it was being employed at Oliver Tractor Company or supporting her husband in their ministries of the United Methodist Churches. She had a passion for painting, fishing, sports, playing her trumpet as well as many other things. Her family was her biggest passion, always laughing or picking on one another.

Left to cherish Shirley’s memory is her children: Wes (Diana) Ossman and Doug Ossman; grandchildren, Rocky (Teresa Rudolph) Ossman; great-grandchildren: Kyra Rudolph, Chloe Rudolph and Dane Ossman. She had many beloved nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; parents, Harry and Follie; one sister, Glennis Kiser and one brother-in-law, James Kiser.
